New Power Out!

Feb. 20th, 2009 | 11:41 am

Here's the next installment. Wish I had more to show for the last three weeks, but I had a decent excuse.

I have the entire first chapter done, but I've wanted to tweak certain aspects. In particular, I saw this earlier conversation between Justin and Carrie as a missed opportunity to hammer home the theme of the book.

There are some things I liked about the original scene, particularly Carrie's push/pull invitation / retraction. The new scene might be a little less subtle than I'd like, but it clearly states the theme and gives a better idea of what's going on in Justin's head.

Enter: Act-I-Vate

Over the last year, I've come to know a large number of ridiculously talented cartoonists. I've shared various studio spaces, learned important cartooning secrets of both technique and industry, and feebly attempted to entertain everyone with an assortment of lame dances, stilted walks, and creepy, high-pitched voices. But today, everything gets taken to the mother-effing next level, as I've officially....

New Digs

Jan. 10th, 2009 | 01:43 pm

Lots of lots of changes around these parts. I have a new studio, and between the kickass new imac, the rockingly huge desk, and the space to put it right next to my drafting table (I can't convey the convenience of being able to look at your computer monitor for reference while you draw) I can safely say I have the best setup I've had in my life.

The exposed brick adds a nice authentic-new york-bohemian flare, which is a constant reminder of how fucking cool I am.

Power Out has a new home as well - starting Friday, January 16th, Power Out will be released in installments on the internet's foremost webcomic site act-i-vate (www.activatecomix.com). I'm going to put the first chapter up in two - three page chunks. It means I'm replacing the comic on my site with a link to the activate site, so you won't be able to read the whole first chapter again until I post it on activate. However, I'm making several edits, so you'll want to follow it up. I know you're probably extremely stressed out about not getting weekly updates about when I make aditions to the comic, so don't worry! I'll be making a facebook group soon.

The blog is changing, too. If you haven't noticed already, I'm on Live Journal. Don't worry, I'll make it so you can still access the old blog, in case you need a half-naked picture of me, a retelling of my beer with Mike Huckabee, or documented proof that I'm insane.
